scorpio is ideal for rough and mountain driving(self),moreover cost effective and powerfull vehicle,

I had been twice to ladakh via manali and rohtang and once to kaza, tabu, rekong pio, self driven,i found the vehichle is easily handled even mud is upto 1-2feet in rainy season on mountains road of keylong and rohtang, baralchala pass, power is quite comfartable no need to press the peddal more, even i was caught in a fog at rohtang pass at 11 pm where visiblity was only few feet but inspite of muddy roads we were easily able to come out ,even on high altitude like lachungla pass(17500 feet) and talungla pass(18000 feet) scorpio was quite comfartable in power even oxygen was less,in all the rough terracian it was single self start and after puting new air filter vehicle was breathing in comfartable manner even on high altitude( actually in india the terracan is so difficult in interiors that u can not run your vehicle more than 50-60km so the need of 4-wheel drive is actually not required if u are driving sensibly, because any vehicle having engine-2.6 litre is having quite comfartable power to cross anything in lower gears, and brake system is quite effective in scorpio,so why to spend few good lakhs just to have 4 wheel drive which require may be in desert or in jungle safari, again your driving skills will be more helpfull in comparision to vehicle(try to put brakes in mud or ice in 4 wheel drive sorry nothing will save u from trouble)

I purchased Scorpio in November 2006,and I face lot of problems from its Dealer in Chandigarh Swami

Scorpio LX - Great Value and a Superb SUV

I own the Scorpio LX now- just took delivery a week ago.

The engine is first class. It hisses to a start with no fuss. Very powerful and no turbo lag troubles. Smooth and quite silent (atleast once the windows are up and the AC on.)

Just remember that the instrument cluster is a little different in the sense that the fuel gauge is the upper right side one - it is easy to mistake the engine temp gauge for fuel gauge at first glance because of its location. And the hand brake indicator is right below, so please watch out before you take off after starting up the car because it is quite possible to take off with the handbrake on by mistake.

The gearing is sporty and clicky. I love it. Fantastic short and tight gearing feel which makes you want to Drive and Drive and Drive.

This is a "seat-of-the-pants driver's car all the way.

The superb Turbo 2.6 Crde beneath the hood is a huge advantage!. Good Torque, Great Power (BHP).

Hard/ Comfy driver seat. Very Snug feel and since I bought the LX and am quite a big built person I dont feel anything lacking because the front seats dont have armrests!

This car is a bit tall so one mustn't try sports car stunts while driving around corners and hill roads but the power is a pleasure.

I drove on a bad rutted road at a pretty high speed and didnt feel much discomfort. I sat in the back when my good friend drove and didnt feel a thing. The rear suspension is quite excellent. This car feels much better when fully loaded with people and luggage though.

Ive fitted 5 beautiful 5 spoke alloy wheels and these improve the ride and handling fantastically because the stance of the jeep has been widened - because the AURA Alloys are 6.5 inches wide as opposed to the 5.5 to 6 inches wide standard scorpio steel wheels.

And with the addition of a decent music system with a relatively inexpensive STEERING MOUNTED REMOTE, I now pretty much have many of the extra features of the DX, SLX and even VLX - all at a mere fraction of the cost of those vehicles!!

Im a firm believer in accessorizing the vehicle according to one's own taste by buying the base version and adding things to it in the way one prefers personally and the savings made and value I have created by doing this, affirms my belief again.

I love the amazing space at the back with the seat folded up and the HUGE space available with the seat folded down.

Feels nice and compact and sporty. Good fun to drive. Tough Mahindra Genes everywhere. This is not a Luxury SUV but an utility plus luxurious one.

The LX gives good value with Power Steering (nice chunky wheel and tiltable too!) Good powerful motors running the front and rear power windows. Solid AC and Heater!

235 Tyres are good but I think this may have been even better with 245 size on the big 16 inch rims.

While the Safari LX , its natural rival may offer many many toys and things and features etc, somehow, when you buy a car with your heart and "seat-of-the-pants", you end up buying a Scorpio.

I am waiting for the first few HILL DRIVES in this jeep. Im sure it will be a 100% FUN!

However, because of its tall stance and because it is an SUV, not a Sports Car, I will not recommend using it like you would, a low slung sports car, chucking it around bends etc. If you drive it well, and like a jeep type vehicle should be driven, it is probably the best vehicle to buy in this kind of budget!

Great Value and a LOVELY CAR!

Thank you Mahindra for getting things so right in the Scorpio!

Good SUV at a high price

I bought a Mahindra Scorpio 4 months back and has completed 4,000 KMs. This is my third car, after a Maruti-800 and Ford Ikon. Since the Ford is already with me, I thought of going for an SUV rather than another car.

The seating is excellent with good view and driving comfort. You can drive it on all roads-smooth or rough at the same speed. I could drive it to Kerala from Bangalore at record time. The ground clearance is very good making it apt for Indian roads. There are a lot of features working on sensors like tyretronics, headlights, wiper, etc. The cruise control is good only on a long drive.

You will be passionated by the passion of having one

She is the best in our country, tough, smart and beautiful. The road grip is excellent. Power is ample. AC requires improvement. Driving her is like sitting on your sofa in the drawing room and enjoying a cigar. Breaks are deadly and on the road other respect you by giving way.

We are proud to have such classic productions in India.

Mahindra Scorpio 2.6 Turbo 9-Seater

its a very good looking and very comfortable to senior citizens but length of the seates of legs little bit problem to over come this problem its very very excellent car for new generations.

Ride it With Confidence and Feel the awesome power

I have own a Mahindra Scorpio 2.6 SLX CRDe 2007. I test drove Innova, Safari, Tuscon and Scorpio before deciding to buy this vehicle. I am satisfied with the Value for money i got.

I picked up the M-Hawk in May08 after a long wait and multiple evaluations of SUV's - (Safari, Endeavour & Pajero) . Already covered 10500 kms until now, with 45% highways and rugged perfidous terrains and rest of them in City. Absolutely impressed by the power of the vehicle , and literally once you are crusing or at high speeds, the engine just gives a soft whrr. Thats' it. The city driving is at ease with the engine extremely responsive in the low gears, quick accelerations to fill the gaps. No time lag at all in pick up. The cruise and audio controls come in really handy in the long journeys. Enjoyed the crusing feature on Hosur - Krishnagiri strech. After the 3000 kms , the gears have become extremely smooth. The mid row is adjustable and my family loves it with way it creates spaces and makes them comfortable. The longest streched covered was from Bangalore - Kochi - Munnar - Udumalpet- Trichur - Bangalore . Total of 2100 kms in 3 tank fills. (Aproxx 14.8kms/ltr). City Mileage varies between 10 kms/ltr - 11kms/ltr It just loves the dusty roads and makes the drving way easy in the extreme conditions. Absolute Power, makes you climb the Ghat sections with ease, even with the AC on and downpour outside. I almost tortured the vehicle mercilessly , taking it through the gruesome potholes and slushy muddy roads. Each time it came responding powerfully taking us with as much safety. ABS works and stops the monster wherever i braked in the wet conditions. All the latest feature turns out to be extremely handy , one things which is missing is the GPS . The tyre tronics were really handy , indicating the temperatures , when i was hitting 150 kms for more than 15-20 minutes on the Coimbatore - Palghat by-pass strech. The rain and light sensors came very handy , when the moods of the Munnar Mountains played their own sing song. The weather conditions changed dramatically from mountain to mountain , with sunshine on one end and thick dense dark clouds on the other. The AC is very adequate and powerful keeping the interiors chilly throughout. Well there are improvements required in the deck and console, forget it when you get an effortless acceleration , the road is all you want to cover. Sitting behind a monster and you will love the ride thouroghly. It is hugely comforting for my family , that they are always in this vehicle , due to the improved suspensions. No bend and twist , halt and jolt. Third row is little cramped , though with the middle row adjustments , you can make people comfortable there. You don't expect to take loads of people every you drive . Do You? Enjoy the ride with confidence and be assured you have have a good value for money going in there at 12 lacs. Nevertheless fetches you a good value in the Seconds Market. Maintenance is fairly low and easy on your pockets. An assuring voice , which reminds you of the handbrakes on or fuel is running low or the seat belt not hooked , makes you believe that it is talking to you.The Custormer Service Experience is a marked improvement from the reviews which i read, where i get a call every month from Mahindra's to know how the vehicle is performing. The next vehicle to pickup is the Scorpio Hybrid with all the loaded features.

If you want a good family car and THE TRAFFIC TO RESPECT YOU buy a scorpio

The handling of the car is surprising good. The steering is very responsive. Pickup is surprising for a first time SUV driver. The VAS with reminders about handbrake, reserve fuel, seatbelts etc is really good. Follow me home headlights, footboard lights and in cabin lighting are some features that are good. Vehicle Handling is better than Safari, Sumo and equivalent.

I get 13.50 KMpl fuel economy in city driving. I have obtained 14.50 to 15 Kmpl on highways. This is good considering a 2.5L engine and power that you get with it. The controls are excellent and handy. AC is never a problem.

The seats are little stiff and not true submarine. seats need improvements. The car is bumpy on uneven roads even with the new 5 link rear suspension though smoother than the old version.

A seven seater with Aisle type 2-2-3 seating will do a world of good to the scorpio. The rattling in the middle row is a problem.

What with the bull bars fitted, The traffic does not dare to come close to my car.

Highly recomended

The suspension has been worked on and improved over the previous models, the engine is very responsive and smooth. Although a lot has been done to reduce the noise inside the vehicle, a bit more effort can be made in terms of using a Wire operated gearshift to reduce vibrations. Also the option for ABS and electrically adjustable mirrors should be available. The powerwindow controls should be moved to the door instead of the center console for easier access. I will also recomend use of smaller switches for the fuel lid and the rear defogger to improve the looks on the center console. The interiors of all the models should be beige instead of the dready blues and reds or atleast provide an option for the customer to have them specified as part of the order. The audio system can be improved a bit by using better speaker though the head unit is good.

Good Machine but not real good Value for Money

I was looking for a MUV/SUV and test drove Scorpio Vlx, and the Innova. I had always dreamt of owning a scorpio from the time it was launched but could not afford it at that time. When we test drove the Innova we were pleased with the interiors and the space inside the vehicle and the overall refinement. But like I said earlier, I always wanted to buy the Scorpio and hence headed towards the nearest Mahindra showroom. My heart changed once I saw the new Scorpio.
